Interlaken Staff: Around the World!

The countdown ’til camp is on! Summer 2017 is just around the corner, and with that comes some great new international Activity Directors! A few of them wanted to introduce themselves so you can get to know a little more about them before the start of summer:

Sam Austin, Pool

sam austinHi! I’m Sam and I’m too excited for the start of camp, my head may explode! I’m looking to create some great fun and games in the pool and help to boost confidence and swimming skills. Over the last few years I’ve been jumping around doing jobs like outdoor instructing and lifeguarding. I’ve been lucky enough to work with some great teams and can’t wait to meet everyone!! My hobbies included surfing, sailing, boxing and football (soccer).

Beth Dobie, Omanut (Art)

beth dobieHey everyone! My names Beth, I’m 20 years old and I live near Manchester in the UK. This summer I’m going to be working as an Art Director alongside Erin in the Omanut! I’m really looking forward to bringing some new exciting projects to camp, and I’m so excited to be a part of the Interlaken community! I’m sure we’re going to have the best summer with our campers and I can’t wait to meet you all. See you all soon!

Calvin Reid, Sailing

calvin reid‘Hi everyone, my names Calvin, I’m 18 and I’m from a small town called Carrickfergus in Northern Ireland and this summer at camp I will be your Sailing Director! This means I will be out on the lake teaching you guys sailing while also having a lot of fun. It is my first time ever traveling across to America, and I can’t wait to get there, and have a great summer!

Glen Hughes, Athletics

glen hughesMy name is Glen Hughes, I’m 22 years old and currently a full-time personal trainer and fitness instructor from Northampton, England. I am really excited to be the Athletics Director this year at Camp Interlaken.

I’ve played sports my whole life, starting with football and rugby and most recently picking up a little bit of gymnastics. By far I’m most excited to get involved with some of the sports I’ve never had the opportunity to play before such as disc golf and of course the Camp Interlaken original, Tushball.

I can’t wait for this summer to begin and to help make it the best summer Camp Interlaken has ever had!

Megan Clark, Small Crafts

megan clark

My name is Meg, I’m 21 and live in Birmingham, England. I started my degree studying Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Chester, however decided to change direction and work towards something I am completely set on, becoming a primary school teacher! I now study Early Childhood Education at Oxford Brookes University. This summer I will be a specialist on the waterfront and I can’t tell you all enough how excited I am to be able to spend the whole summer at Camp Interlaken. It’s an absolute dream! I look forward to meeting you all soon…
