Shoresh Unit Leaders!

Your child’s Unit Leaders are some of the most important people in camp. Unit Leaders are responsible for things like, running the day, supervising counselors, getting to know all of the campers, and communicating with parents. We want to help you and your camper get to know them before summer begins. Below is an introductory letter from your camper’s Unit Leader. Please make sure to share this letter with them!

Shalom Shoresh Families and Campers!

Welcome to Shoresh, the best and most influential unit in Camp! Shoresh is comprised of 3rd through 5th graders, making them the youngest unit at camp. It is so important to us to teach the next generation of camp how special Interlaken is so that it continues to positively impact the lives of campers for years to come. First experiences at camp are the most important, and our goal is to make “lifers” out of this year’s Shoresh campers.

My name is Simone Shrell, and I am beyond excited to be this summer’s Shoresh Unit Leader along with my amazing co, Shari Sandler. I am graduating from Indiana University with a Bachelor’s in Speech-Language Pathology. SimoneIn the fall I will be attending graduate school in Dallas, Texas to
get my masters in Speech-Language Pathology. When I was a counselor at Camp, I only ever wanted to work with the Shoresh campers, so this summer has come full circle for me as I now get to lead the Shoresh Campers in their most important summer of Camp! Camp has been a huge part of my life since the summer of 2002. The best part of camp is the ruach (spirit) and kehillah (community). You can feel the spirit when you hear everyone screaming and singing the moment you step off the bus, and this is a moment I’m most excited for!

ShariMy name is Shari Sandler, and this is my 11th summer at Camp! I probably have more ruach, creativity, silliness and energy than anyone else at Camp, and I cannot wait for that to impact the amazing campers of Shoresh! I am getting ready to graduate from Iowa State University with a BFA in Interior Design. In the fall, I plan to move back to Milwaukee and begin my career in Interior Design (hint hint –if you know anyone looking to hire new graduate associates, please send them my way). My favorite part of Camp is Israeli dancing and song session on Friday night! I cannot wait to teach our campers all of the songs and dances!

There is so much to look forward to this summer. I’m so excited for your children to experience chugim (daily activities), Shabbat, song sessions, the pool, Lake Finley and much, much more!

To our campers, get super pumped for your amazing counselors who will make your summer one that you will never forget. The Camp Interlaken experience is not like any other. You will start to lay the foundation for lasting friendships.

To the new campers of summer 2015, we are so excited to meet you!

To the returning campers, get ready for an even more amazing summer than last year!
Good luck and have fun during the rest of your school year because camp will be here before you know it! Can’t wait to see your smiling faces when you step off the bus!

See you soon,
Simone & Shari
