The Interlaken team is expanding!

I am excited to share two hoda’ot (messages) about the Camp Interlaken JCC team!

Tova Blasberg has been promoted to Assistant Director of Programs for Camp Interlaken JCC.
Tova is an Interlaken lifer, having started as a 9-year-old camper in 1999. She’s counting down the days for her 20th summer at Camp Interlaken! Tova joined the full-time Interlaken team in the fall of 2018 as the Program Director. During her tenure in this role, Tova has proven to be an essential leader and visionary for Camp Interlaken.

As Assistant Director of Programs, Tova will continue to develop summer programs and work directly with – and supervise – Camp Interlaken’s Activity Directors to provide an exceptional activity experience for campers. Tova will also work with, and supervise a seasonal program coordinator, and together they will work with Interlaken staff to create engaging programs. Tova will continue to take the lead on camper recruitment, engagement, and intake. As the key Camp Interlaken team member who focuses on alumni engagement, Tova is also now the Family Camp Director.

We are so lucky to continue to have Tova as a part of the Camp Interlaken team and our JCC Staff Family. Her passion, institutional knowledge, and work ethic make her an invaluable asset.

Joining our JCC Staff Family and Camp Interlaken team is Randy “Grizz” Comensky, who will be stepping into the role of Assistant Director of Operations for Camp Interlaken.
Randy is an experienced professional with over 25 years of Jewish camping experience. As the Director of Camp Sabra (St. Louis JCC), Camp Lakeland (Buffalo JCC), J Camps (JCC Houston), and JCC Day Camps powered by Tamarack, Randy has the hands-on experience needed to provide the exceptional and high-quality experience our community expects.

In this role, Randy will support all operational aspects of Camp Interlaken, including accreditation, licensing, food service, facility, scheduling, logistics, and infrastructure. Randy will manage and implement best practices in staff recruitment, management, and development, including staff orientation. He will provide oversight to Interlaken’s Ozrim (Staff in Training) program.

Randy currently lives in Bloomfield Hills, MI, with his wife, Carrie (who he met at camp!), daughter Parker (17), and son Aaron (15). Randy is looking forward to joining the Camp Interlaken Leadership team and offering his expertise to help provide an incredible experience for our campers and staff.

Randy will begin on Monday, February 14. We are looking forward to welcoming him into the JCC Staff Family and Camp Interlaken team.

We wish a B’ruchim Haba’im (welcome) to Grizz and an Eizeh Yofi (great job) to Tova!
